THE MIND OF CHRIST

1Cor.2: [16] For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

What does having the mind of Christ mean? Does it mean reading Christ’s mind? Is it Christ reading our minds? What did Paul mean when he said it?

Jesus Christ had just died on the cross and was resurrected from the dead. Paul of Tarsus was an intelligent Jewish man with many degrees and honors. He was so busy killing Christians he did not know anything about Christ nor his disciples, nor His death on the cross.

On his way to kill the Christians in Damascus, Paul was blinded by a bright light from Heaven. He heard a Hebrew voice from Heaven say “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks,” said the resurrected Christ. Christ meant, when you persecute Christians you are also persecuting ME!

The question of Christ jolted Saul from his horse to the ground and to his knees. The presence of Christ humbled Saul to repentance and his stopping his killing spree of Christians. We have no idea how much revelation (new information) Christ revealed to this highly intelligent, Jewish man. Christ explained to him everything from Genesis to Revelation plus the “mind of Christ”.

Saul’s faith was so strong, God filled him with the mind of Christ. He became filled with faith from the hearing and hearing of God’s word and the coming Messiah. Saul was brilliant with many religious degrees and doctorates from the top schools. Meeting Christ that day changed his whole perspective and direction in life.

Saul learned about the 9 Gifts of the Spirit and the 9 Fruits of the Spirit to help him with his daily life in getting close to Christ and handling spiritual situations. His mind was so flooded with the mind of Christ so he could walk with Christ, learn from Christ, speak in tongues, heal like Christ, thus, having the mind of Christ.

What exactly can be on the mind of Christ that we would covet and want to copy it in order to be helpful spiritually to ourselves and to others? The second any person gets saved they receive the “power of prayer first”. When I got saved at eleven I automatically began praying for people in houses we drove by, famous people in magazines, on TV, and on Facebook, etc.

After Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist He received the “mind of God” 24/7 for 3 1/2 years as He communed privately with God daily. He did only what he saw His Heavenly Father do and he said only what His Father told Him to say. Jesus never had a life of His own. Jesus loved His Heavenly Father so much He wanted His follower disciples to learn about Him so they would love His Father like He did, too.

Remember when Jesus said don’t worry about what to say in sticky situations but to ask Him for help when you need the right words? It’s like borrowing from Jesus’ mind; you only ask for permission. If you keep a negative opinion of yourself due to past mistakes, it can take a toll on your mind and can sometimes lead to disease. A woman who once had Crohn’s disease for 7 years was healed when she repented to God of being so judgmental of herself and others!

Some Christians think self-condemnation is a pious virtue but it’s not. It makes God sad you that you are hurting yourself with harsh words when He loves you so much and has a plan for your life but you don’t think you deserve it. After God made man and woman He said they were were very good. Had they repented they would have had a better out-come. There is still time to repent which makes God and you both smile. God wants us to not only love Him but love others, and loving our self is a healthy thing. Simply, repent to God so you don’t have to carry any fake, heavy load. “When I kept silent about my sin my body wasted away through my groaning all day long.” Psalm 32:3

Some great Christians’ minds are messed up for different reasons because they can’t let go or forgive people who caused their negative past. When you try to mend the problem yourself it won’t work. You need help. There are doctors, meds, psychiatry, friends, commanding demons to get lost or taking health supplements are good but I find that the power of prayer, speaking in tongues, laughing, playing with the cat, listening to soft Christian music or tapping in to the mind of Christ is better than good and I get free help faster!

A wonderful, spiritual DNA change happens when you believe Jesus loved and died for you. It’s called getting “Born Again!” When you’ve been born again you have instant access to the loving, helpful mind of Christ.
